Here are some answers to some commonly asked questions:
For any questions & information specifically related to modeling (or working with Zero directly), please see the info for models section.
Q: What types of paper are your photos & prints are provided on?
COLOR PRINTS
Zero's color prints are produced on Kodak Professional Endura Metallic paper.
Endura Metallic features a unique pearlescent surface. From portrait or fine art applications, to special event photography and business cards, we think you will agree when we say this paper is truely spectacular.
Endura offers natural looking flesh tones, sharp details and beautifully saturated colors. Plus, Endura is strong. Resistant to tearing and curling without any additional lamination.
This paper uses a patented combination of film and laminate layers that results in striking, three-dimensional, lasting images on an ultra-bright background.
BLACK & WHITE PRINTS
Black & White prints are provided Kodak Professional Endura 'True Black and White' paper.
This panchromatic, resin-coated paper is specifically designed for making continuous-tone b&w prints directly from digital images in digital exposing systems.
This paper also provides excellent tone reproduction from digital camera files, scanned color slides or negatives. Because the emulsion is silver based rather than dye based the imaging performance and characteristics of this paper are the same as traditional b&w continuous-tone papers. That translates to neutral tonal characteristics offering good sharpness, display and archival characteristics.
Q: What is stock photography?
In the photography business there is assignment based work and stock photography. In the case of assignment based work, photographers are hired to shoot for clients. Stock photography differs from assignment based work in that a photographer shoots based on varying specifications in hope of generating images that can be marketed through a stock photo agency or a photo library. Zero Dean does both types of work.
Q: What are "Royalty-Free" (RF) / "Rights Managed" (RM) photos?
Each stock photo at Zerotopia is offered as either a Royalty Free (RF) Photo or a Rights Managed (RM) photo. When you license a Royalty-Free photo, you pay a one-time fee for an image. You may then use the image for different projects for an unlimited time period. You cannot sell a royalty free photo to someone else and you cannot include the photo in any print or production run over 250 copies without obtaining a "Rights Managed" license. For production runs under 250, you can include any royalty free stock photo that you've licensed as part of a product such as CD cover or CD insert (<250 copies), software images, brochures, etc.
Some images at Zerotopia (and any image intended to be used in production runs greater than 250) are "Rights Managed". Rights Managed images are purchased for a specific, clearly defined used and the price is determined by the scope of that use: The more substantial the intended use of the photo, the higher the fee. And the image may not be used in any way that is not agreed to and invoiced for. That is, the rights are "managed" on a continuing basis.
For more information on licensing, please see the licensing explained page.
Q: Who owns stock images?
Stock images available at Zerotopia remain the property of the photographer, Zero Dean. You buy a license to use the stock images, but you do not own them and cannot resell them.
Q: I'm a photographer. Would you be interested in "selling" my photography?
At the present time, Zerotopia only showcases and licenses images created by Zero Dean (photos at Zerotopia are not "sold", they're licensed). However, Zero is open to discussing the possibilities of licensing the images of other photographers through Zerotopia.
